For this innovative and immersive project, we successfully recruited 24 participants (a mix of singles and pairs) for a two-night hotel stay at a leading hotel chain. During their stay, participants carried out typical hotel tasks—such as checking in, ordering at the bar, and interacting with staff—while wearing lapel cameras that tracked their expressions and reactions. After their stay, they completed a short survey, providing valuable insights into how different service levels impact the guest experience and emotional engagement.
Our success was down to clear and compelling recruitment messaging, as well as transparent guidance on what to expect—which was crucial in ensuring participants were comfortable with wearing the lapel cameras. We handled all respondent communications personally, providing check-in details, clear instructions, and ongoing support to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Due to the unique methodology of this project, we worked closely with our client from the initial quotation stage to carefully plan the best way to run the study. This tailored approach, combined with focused participant recruitment efforts, ensured the project was a complete success, with fantastic feedback from both participants and the client.
